Piedmont is the land that hosts the highest mountains and the biggest glaciers in Italy. Monviso, Monte Rosa and other mountains offer landscapes of unique beauty and there are numerous ski resorts, Via Lattea and Sestriere among others. From the mountains to great valleys, such as Val di Susa, Valsesia and Val d’Ossola, to the hilly landscapes of Langhe and Monferrato covered with vineyards, and again to the plains with expanses of water and rice fields from Novara to Vercelli, Piedmont is a land of diversity. Other world-renowned sights are Lake Maggiore with Stresa and the Isole Borromee, medieval castles, the architecturally rich city of Turin and the famous House of Savoy Royal Residences.
